Firefighter is a hero after saving 3-year-old drowning victim
ORANGE VILLAGE, OH - Firefighter/Paramedic Bill Mandich was recently attending a birthday party off duty. Firefighter Mandich heard screams coming from the pool area and rushed over to where a 3-year-old child had been found face down in the pool.
Firefighter Mandich noticed the boy was not breathing and was purple. Firefighter Mandich immediately took control of the situation and began CPR. These heroic efforts caused the boy to begin breathing again and Firefighter Mandich ran down the driveway where he handed the boy off to the rescue squad.
Thanks to the quick efforts of Firefighter Mandich, the boy made a full recovery.
The Orange Village Fire Department wrote on Facebook that, "We often see tragedy in our line of work. These positive outcomes, however, are what make it all worthwhile and represent what we strive for on every call. We are so happy for this wonderful family and are so very proud of our friend and coworker Bill Mandich. Well done Brother!"
In the photos below you can see the reunion Firefighter Mandich had with the boy and his family.
Thank you for your service Firefighter Mandich. You are a true hero.
