BIRMINGHAM, AL - Members of the Birmingham Police Department paid a special visit to the son of Wytasha Carter, a sergeant who was killed in the line of duty in 2019.
Sergeant Carter’s son turned 16 yesterday and officers planned a surprise party for him. The group even gave him a bag full of gifts.
Sergeant Carter had served with the Birmingham Police Department since 2011 when he was killed in a shooting outside of a downtown Birmingham nightclub. The suspect in his murder was arrested and is facing the death penalty.
The Birmingham Police Department said in a Facebook post that, “Sergeant Carter is missed beyond measure and his family will always be a part of the BPD family.”
Thank you Birmingham Police Department for being the heroes that you are.
